Taking the shortcut through the woods seemed to be a bad idea as now you’re hopelessly lost. Stumbling through the forest you search around for something that looks familiar, but all you see is trees. Some rustling behind you causes you to spin around only to find nothing there. You begin a walk quicker through the forest hoping you find your way out. The rustling happens again this time closer. You quickly glance back again and notice a tall slender figure hiding just behind a tree. Panicked you begin to sprint heading deeper into the woods. The rustling seems to be getting closer, escape seems futile. There’s no way out for you. In desperation you spin around and yell, “Leave me alone!” Shocked you no longer see the tall figure. Breathing a sigh of relief you turn around to see a tall menacing figure towering over you. You begin to scream, but soon collapsed to the ground. The Slender Man has collected another victim. Welcome to the world of Slender.
Slender is a new horror indie title that is totally free! Playing off of the fictitious mythos of the Slender Man, you embark on a journey through a dark forest with only a flashlight, and the instructions to find eight note pages about the Slender Man. As you collect pages the scares and atmosphere of the game begin to ramp up. Although not particularly menacing, the Slender Man can be quite the creepy character as he watches you from afar slowly moving closer to you every time you turn your back. Collecting all eight page can be quite a harrowing experience. If you are into horror games Slender is definitely a game you should check out. I mean come on its free.
If you still need convincing be sure to check out my gameplay video of me playing Slender, and yes I did capture a couple of freak outs I had. Enjoy but beware the creepy brick wall…
