The first Indie game I’ve purchased for Xbox is Lil’ Demons: Splatter for 80 MS points. It’s a firefight type game where increasingly large hoards of the Lil’ Demons attempt to take you out.
There are three game modes: Waves, King of the Hill and Knockoff. In waves, it’s just what you’d expect, more and more Demons appear to attack you the farther you progress. King of the Hill puts bubbles around the map and rewards you points for standing in them and protecting yourself.
Finally, in knockoff you don’t take damage, but the platform is incredibly small with tons of gaps. When the demons hit you, you bounce, making it much easier fly off the edge.
Four different types of Lil’ Demons will keep you splattering:
Red – Leap and you when you get close and explode on impact. You do double damage to them while they are in the air.
Blue – Don’t have much health, but attempt to dodge your shots.
Yellow – Grow when and slow down when shot, but explode and damage other Demons along with yourself if you’re too close.
Green – Multiply after a couple shots into 2 smaller and much quicker Demons that are one hit kills.
The 4 weapons you can get in this game are a pistol, shotgun, rocket launcher and a laser gun. All of which are rather useful.
When you kill the Demons they splatter their blood. If you run though the blood you power-up your abilities which give you super speed, armor, rapid fire and slow down depending what color Demon’s blood it is.
One really cool feature of this game is the ability to play in 3D. There are many different types of 3D built-in, so most any 3D TV or colored glasses will work. I have a 1080p HDTV (not 3D) with the old standard Red-Blue glasses and it looks pretty cool and works very well.
Now for the downsides: There is no co-op which is quite a shame. If this game had multiplayer I would wonder why it wasn’t an XBLA title. Also only 4 types of enemies, 4 weapons and 1.5 maps make it get old after 30 minutes or so.
For only 80 MS points, or $1 this game is great and easily worth a purchase. It’s the perfect game to play while you’re downloading other games or DLC and have some time to spare. I definitely plan to revisit this game soon and splatter me some more demons.
Lil’ Demons: Splatter gets 4 shotgun blasts out of 5.

Like how they made the game so you could use old school 3d glasses without the need of a 3d TV, because really who has the $1,500-$2,000 to spend on that?
Indeed. The red/blue 3D is what made me want to try it in the first place, just to see how it was.
Sounds like a decent little game for a $1!
