Where Gamers Collide

The recent PlayStation Network outage has left many shocked and amazed by the seemingly random act of malice towards not only one of the video game giants but to normal everyday people as well. While most peoples sensitive credit card information was not touched or tampered with, the ones who were are the ones crying the loudest.

This weekend I was informed that a friend of mine had had her credit card information stolen. The most likely source is the PSN since she had her credit card information stored online. She found out of the intrusion mere days ago when $450 had been charged to her account unbeknownst to her. In no means is the situation she finds herself in favorable. However, one detail is rather humerus. The hacker/s who fraudulently charged her account had signed up for a Match.com account with her money.

Overweight, and antisocial, sitting at home on a Friday night (well any night for that matter) can get pretty lonely for a computer hacker. Even they need a little attention from the opposite sex from time to time; they’re people too after all.

Where does my friend go from here?

  • I have contacted my bank and credit card companies. They are performing an investigation into the matter to help bring a quick end to this disaster.
